GE to provide turbines for Pertamina

PT Pertamina (Persero) and Marubeni agreed on an exclusive partnership with General Electric for the supply of Gas Turbine Combined Cycle technology Java IPP 1 with a capacity of 1,600 MW.

General Electric will supply Pertamina with its 9HA gas turbine. The technology has been proven and widely used in the world is believed to increase the generation efficiency to above 61%, as widely available in the market today.

“With an exclusive cooperation agreement that has existed between Pertamina-Marubeni consortium and General Electric, [GE] has expressed its strong commitment to provide maximum support to the consortium, including the provision of the most technologically advanced and efficient [turbines] in the world,” Vice President Corporate Communications of Pertamina Wianda Pusponegoro.

Project steam power plant (power plant) Java IPP 1 will be the largest in Indonesia with an estimated investment of US$ 2 billion (excluding FSRU), and is part of the government’s program of 35,000 MW. PT PLN (Persero) will begin to open the tender offer in early May 2016.

Pertamina-Marubeni consortium also has agreed to cooperate with Samsung C & T as a provider of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC). Joining the big players in the power generation industry, said Wianda, prove the seriousness of Pertamina as the leader of the consortium is to support the government and PT PLN (Persero) IPP project in Java, one that has been planned.
