Kuwait’s oil sector to open more than 2,000 job opportunities in 2017-18

Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Kuwait’s national oil company, will be providing more than 2,000 job opportunities in the fiscal year 2017-2018.

The new employment opportunities will bring the number of new Kuwaiti workers in the oil sector to 4,000 for the current and the next fiscal years, the country’s Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Essam Al-Marzouq said in an interview with local media.

Meanwhile, Marzouq noted that the Kuwait’s oil sector aims to push oil production rate up to reach 4 million barrels per day, develop the petrochemicals industry, and increase foreign investments as part of its 2040 vision.

The country’s oil consumption is currently at 350,000 barrels per day, Marzouq added. He expects consumption to jump to extremely high rates in the coming years due to urban expansion. The minister also added that Kuwait aims to use renewable energy sources to produce about 15% of its consumption needs.
