Asian Oil and Gas industry experts convened in Yangon for prize ceremony

YANGON – The 5th Myanmar Oil and Gas Summit and Exhibition (OGEX) 2015 is Myanmar’s most established and leading event for oil and gas companies, suppliers and government. The event is held in the Sedona Hotel, Yangon biannually in January and June. This well attended event organised by Oliver Kinross, attracts in excess of 400 delegates and hundreds of exhibition visitors.

OGEX Myanmar also plays host to the prestigious Asia and Myanmar Oil & Gas Awards Ceremony. This year there were 11 awards in total up for grabs, 3 for oil and gas operators and 8 for service providers to the industry.

The first announcement of the evening was the Oil Company of the Year Award. The award was handed toPetroVietnam Technical Services Corportation (PTSC). The judges said that the winner has grown up from a small company in 1993 to an all rounded substantial technical services company expertly serving the E&P industry in Asia today. The second award of the evening was the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year. The judges chose Reliance Industries Limited, the judges commented that RIL had succesfully implemented very well researched CSR projects which demonstrated real understanding and commitment to the communities within their concession. Judges were most impressed the initiatives undertaken by RIL to improve education and health. RIL’s results have provided great benefits to communities local to their on-going projects.

Next up was the Asia Oil & Gas HSE Award. The judges gave this award again to Reliance Industries Limited. The winner was said to have created great HSE Policy and have implemented very good HSE Management System resulting in safe and sound operations with a good record of company achievements.

The Oil & Gas Logistics Company of the Year was awarded to Implico for their dedicated team of oil and gas sector specialists who understand the energy industry’s needs and concerns and are thus able to achieve stable growth of the company business. Technofit won the Engineering Company of the Year; judges rewarded their ‘hands on’ approach which promotes quality services and products maintaining their reputation in Malaysia as a world class entity and leading engineering service provider.

Offshore Services Award of the Year was given to Essar. Judges felt that they had set an example of how pooling together a proactive approach with a positive attitude ranking upon the credential of its rich and varied past experience and strength of its skills manpower can transform the company into an admired international EPC company with an impeccable HSE record. The Innovation of the Year Award was taken by Katchkan. Judges recognised that no other company in the world functions under the same model as the winner, nor provides rig safety and zero spill tech as effectively as them, which has given them a big advantage over other competitors as they work to make the upstream oil and gas industry a cleaner, safer place.
