The recent Strategic Business Alliance Agreement (SBAA) signed by Khazanah Nasional’s sustainable energy subsidiary, Cenergi SEA Berhad (Cenergi), and leading solar provider Fabulous Sunview Sdn. Bhd. (Sunview), will see the development of new solar photovoltaic projects for the decarbonising utility, commercial, and industrial sectors across Southeast Asia.

The collaboration is also aimed at providing integrated sustainable energy solutions to help commercial and industrial (C&I) customers achieve their corporate sustainability and decarbonisation goals – Cenergi will be the project developer, investor, and operator while Sunview will be the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) partner.

Both companies are currently developing over 25-megawatt (MW) of solar projects in Malaysia, including zero-cost rooftop solar installations for C&I customers and a large-scale solar farm, but intend to scale-up their strategic collaboration to add more solar projects of up to 100 MW either on a Large Scale Solar (LSS) programme, a New Enhanced Dispatch Arrangement (NEDA) scheme, or a future Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) scheme.

The companies also target to secure at least 15 MW of C&I rooftop solar projects per year for the next three years.

The SBAA was signed by chief executive counterparts Hairol Azizi Tajudin of Cenergi Group, and Ong Hang Ping of Sunview, at Cenergi’s Headquarters in Shah Alam, Selangor.

At the signing event, Hairol claimed, “The collaboration sets another milestone for Cenergi, following our issuance of the Corporate Green Sukuk program last year after being recently awarded with five biogas feed-in tariff (FiT) projects with a total capacity of 10.8MW by SEDA Malaysia.

“We are excited to join forces with a reputable organisation like Sunview to offer sustainable energy solutions to clients in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, helping them to accelerate their ESG agenda, and to support the Malaysian Government’s aspiration to increase renewable energy (RE) capacity to 40% by 2035 and towards carbon neutral status as early as 2050.”

Ong added, “We are very excited and honoured to be part of Cenergi’s journey and are fully committed to providing best-in-class RE solutions to fulfil Cenergi’s vision and aspirations. Aside from C&I projects, Sunview is currently constructing approximately 11MWp ground mounted solar farm under NEDA scheme for Cenergi. We look forward to delivering more projects for Cenergi in the future.”
