Element awarded leading research contract with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority

Admaterials Technologies Pte Ltd (Admaterials Technologies) has signed a one-year contract with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) to conduct innovative research on the effectiveness of different coatings systems on the protection of critical concrete structures.

Admaterials Technologies is part of Exova Group Ltd, which was recently acquired by Element Materials Technology (Element) to create one, world-class global testing services partner.

The research will see Element apply a newly conceived accelerated corrosion test which utilises a linear polarisation resistance probe, designed entirely in-house, to monitor the corrosion rate. The resulting research report will look at how well different coatings protect the concrete and recommend the system with the best performance. These results will help support the client with maintenance of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) tunnels in Singapore.

Matt Davies, EVP Infrastructure & Environmental, Element commented: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract by such a high-profile organization as the LTA and are committed to providing them with first-class results. This leading research project, which will see our experts support the client’s needs by applying their extensive knowledge and experience in the field of concrete technology, is absolutely critical in guaranteeing the effective safeguarding of essential infrastructure. With our specially-designed in-house system, we can ensure we meet LTA’s high standards and deliver the right solution that brings certainty to our client.”

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Transport, which spearheads land transport developments in Singapore. It is responsible for the planning, design, build and maintenance of Singapore’s land transport infrastructure and systems and leverages technology to strengthen this while providing innovative options for future land transport.
