Five petrochemical projects in Iran to go on-stream by end of March
With the current calendar year ending in March 20, Iran is gearing up to launch five new petrochemical projects in the country in the remaining two months of the calendar year, according to National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Managing Director Marziyeh Shahdaei.
The senior petrochemical official said that 4 projects will come on-stream during the Fajr Decade, marked as the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, one by the year-end and three others early next year, reported the oil ministry’s news agency SHANA.
Phase II of Kavian Petchem Plant (with 1 million tons of output per year), phase II of Morvarid plant (with 550,000 tons of annual output), and Entekhab Plant (with 250,000 tons of output per annum) will be launched during the decade. Meanwhile, Phase II of Pardis Petrochemical Plant (with one million tons of output per annum) will become operational by the year-end, she said.
Iranian petrochemical plants can supply over 64 million tons of petrochemicals annually which will reach 100 million tons within the next five years, she said. Since the beginning of the year, Iran has exported US$9 million worth of petrochemicals.
