Indonesia targets 20% renewable energy use by 2025
Indonesia has set a target of 20% renewable energy use by 2025, and the country’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan said the goal is realistically achievable.
“We will manage the 20 percent by 2025,” the minister said.
According to Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Rida Mulyana, the government is currently seeing the market reaction related to electricity tariffs.Rida said the government is making every effort to meet the electricity needs with reasonable prices and apply subsidy policy.
A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Indonesia Renewable Energy Community (METI) and French Renewable Energy Group (FREG) was signed during the recent launch of the latter.METI will be the local partners to assist French companies in identifying and developing Renewable Energy projects in Indonesia.
