Shell to build carbon capture and storage projects in Canada

Sarawak Shell Berhad and its partners Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd. and Sapura Exploration and Production (Sarawak) Inc. (Sapura E&P), following the Field Development Plan approval from Petronas, have taken the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the development of the Gorek, Larak and Bakong fields in the SK408 Production Sharing Contract.

The fields will be developed as three separate wellhead platforms tied back to the existing Sarawak Shell Berhad operated F6 processing facility.

“Taking FID on the above fields reaffirms Shell’s continued commitment to developing the Sarawak basin and securing a clean energy source for Malaysia’s future. With this there has been twelve important gas discoveries in Sarawak by Shell and its equity partners over the past 5 years” Chairman of Shell Malaysia Datuk Iain Lo said.

Sarawak Shell Berhad is the development and production operator of the Gorek field while Sapura E&P is the development and production operator of the Larak and Bakong fields.
