Sarawak’s integrated O&G supply base to begin operations by 4Q19
Sarawak’s integrated oil and gas (O&G) supply base at the Second Inner Harbour in Bintulu Port will kick-start commercial operations by the fourth quarter of 2019 (4Q19).
Sarawak Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, said the base would cater to the needs of the O&G industry offshore East Malaysia.
“It is poised to become a one-stop centralised logistics support centre to service the needs of O&G exploration, development and production activities in offshore areas of Sarawak, in line with Petronas initiatives to achieve cost efficiency and operation effectiveness especially for players in Sarawak waters,” he said.
Abang Johari said this at the signing of a land lease agreement between Bintulu Supply Base Sdn Bhd and Bintulu Port Authority (BPA).
He said the development would provide a strong platform for a more effective and efficient logistical service for the upstream activities undertaken by the O&G companies in the continental shelf off the coasts of Sarawak where valuable petroleum and natural gas resources were located.
