Sahara International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) of Saudi Arabia has announced the awarding of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts for the expansion of its ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) plant owned by its affiliate, International Polymers Company, in Jubail.
The contracts, valued at US$187 million, have been awarded to SGC E&C Co and SGC Arabia Company Limited. The expansion is expected to be completed by 2027.
The scope of the contract includes engineering, procurement, and construction services for the plant expansion, which will increase production capacity by 70,000 tonnes of high-grade EVA. Upon completion, the plant’s total production capacity will reach approximately 290,000 tonnes/year.
The contract duration is set at 40 months.
Sipchem adds that the high-grade EVA produced will support multiple industries, including the manufacture of solar power cell encapsulants, hot melt adhesives, and other applications.
